We know how difficult life is right now, which is why we’d like to point you in the direction of some helpful resources. For starters, if you’ve lost your summer employment because of the COVID-19 pandemic, you may be eligible for financial assistance through Texas’ Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program.
Some students may be eligible to receive funding right now. This article in Forbes magazine explains which students are eligible (and which students might not qualify) to receive funding. The average amount of assistance is about $194 per week, although this amount varies from state to state.
Students should use the Edquity app (download it from the Apple App Store, Google Play or directly from the Edquity website) to apply for Emergency Aid Fund assistance. While there are restrictions on who can receive CARES Act funds, all enrolled Dallas College students can apply for Emergency Aid (even during non-pandemic times). Students may use the Edquity app to submit new applications each semester — Fall, Spring and Summer* — but it’s important to first log into eConnect and make sure your information is up to date. If you don’t have access to direct deposit funds, then Dallas College will be able to send funds in the form of a paper check.
*Note: Summer I and Summer II terms count as one Summer semester.
