What Is Logistics?
The definition of logistics is, “the detailed coordination of a complex operation involving many people, facilities, or supplies.” That means you could work in warehouse and distribution center management; shipping and transportation companies; or trucking, storage and distribution centers.
Why Should I Study Logistics?
A logistics degree provides you with the basic knowledge and skill set to gather and transport manufactured goods from a business to a consumer. An associate degree in logistics is helpful if you want to work in transportation, in a warehouse or with the materials management division in a manufacturing business.

At North Lake College, all of the following programs are offered.
- Advanced-Level Logistics Professional Certificate
- Foundation-Level Logistics Technician Certificate
- Logistics Technology Associate of Applied Science
The associate degree can be completed in two years as a full-time student, the foundation-level certificate in two semesters and the advanced-level certificate can be completed in one semester.

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce and Bureau of Labor Statistics, logistics is one of America’s largest and fastest growing industries. Texas has the second-highest level of employment for Transportation and Material Moving Occupations in the U.S., with more than 852,610 workers in these positions statewide making a mean hourly wage of $18.58.
Additionally, Dallas – Fort Worth is one of the largest points of distribution in the United States, and jobs for transportation, storage and distribution managers are expected to grow by more than 20 percent by 2024.
