#GetCovered for 2016 on These Dates at DCCCD

Last updated on October 9, 2019

As part of the Healthy Communities Challenge, DCCCD is hosting a series of Affordable Care Act events to help you #GetCovered for 2016! Dallas is one of 20 cities participating in the challenge, with a goal from the White House to enroll the highest percentage of uninsured. The winning city will get bragging rights, a healthier community and a visit from President Obama to celebrate its success.

Five Facts About Open Enrollment Through Healthcare.gov

  1. The deadline to sign up is Jan. 31. If you want health coverage through the healthcare.gov marketplace for 2016, you have until the end of the month to enroll.
  2. Coverage could be more affordable than you think. Roughly 80 percent of people who enroll in health coverage through healthcare.gov qualify for financial help to make their monthly premiums more affordable. Most people can find plans with premiums for less than $75 per month after tax credits.
  3. Shop and save. If you had 2015 coverage through the marketplace, you should come back to update your information and compare your options for 2016. You could save money by switching to a new plan. Make sure to review your options!
  4. Getting covered is easier than ever. Every year healthcare.gov finds new ways to make signing up simpler. You can even apply on your smartphone. During the last open enrollment period, it took most people about 10 minutes to submit an application.
  5. Free help is available. If you have questions about signing up or want to talk through your options with a trained professional, free help is just a call or click away. Call 1-800-318-2596 or visit healthcare.gov.
